    The Collectors Workshop is the dream of founder, Vijay Pillai. From working for his father in India to buying out the company that employed him after moving to Dubai, Max Garage, the story of TCW began long before the sign went up. The path Vijay followed and the decisions he made along the way led him to where he is today and TCW.

    1981

    The Collectors’ Workshop Founder, Vijay Pillai moved to Dubai as a trained mechanic to begin working on Scania trucks and heavy vehicles for a large corporation.

    The urge to become a business owner however was too strong and together with a business partner, Vijay bought Max Garage in 1992 with the dream to make it Dubai’s premier car repair business.

    A chance meeting with the owner of a 1962 Daimler sports car who was seeking advice on how to keep it pristine in the harsh UAE climate was all it took to spark the classic car dream.

    The next phase was the opening of The Collectors’ Workshop as a place where owners, customers and enthusiasts can meet and share stories over coffee or even commission a full restoration.
